Song #156 (SPTJ) originally mentioned “the faithful, wise slave” just once. Song #43 (STJ) added one reference, in two lines, of the song: “Through the faithful slave today”. Song #174 (SPTJ) did not previously mention the faithful slave and older men. SPTJ = Sing Praises To Jehovah (Old 1984) In breaking down the 4 songs, I’ll post facts, not opinions. I’ll share my observations from looking more closely. In an attempt to make something appear to be what it isn’t…. So I had already acknowledged that point. As I clearly said in paragraph #2 of my previous post, “they changed the words of some” songs. I don’t really have much else to say - other that some here seem to have a bunch of time on their hands.Ĭlick to expand.RR…. I think you can see a pattern going here, so I won’t continue. When it’s scriptural.Īm I loyal to those taking the lead? Yes. To answer your questions- do I agree with these lyrics - the answer is yes - to some.ĭo I heed the counsel of the older men? Yes. The song “Ever Loyal” is the only one that comes from the current song book - “Sing to Jehovah”. In the 1984 release “Sing Praises to Jehovah” these songs were: You’ve cherry picked out a few verses out of 100+ songs that otherwise praise Jehovah, Jesus, the Kingdom, and Christian living. These are songs we’ve been singing for decades. Respectfully, though, in this post it’s like you went digging for something that has been right in front of you all along. All but one of the songs you mentioned were in that 1984 release - which you fail to mention - which seems a little disingenuous to me - implying by omission that these songs are somehow showing something new. Hymn 116 – The Light Gets Brighter – “Our Lord has appointed a trustworthy slave, Through whom He gives food in due season. Hymn 84 – I Want To – “Oh, what help Jehovah God gave, when he sent the faithful wise slave, With whom we serve with joy, Our powers employ, that meek ones we might help to save.” When our brothers take the lead, When they give us clear directions, May our mind and heart give heed.” Hymn 63 – Ever Loyal – “Ever loyal to their guidance. Heed the counsel of the older men, Who protect his sheep and truth defend.” Staying alert to Christ’s direction, through his faithful slave to day.
